snowed in

at my work there is a rule that they're responsible for providing a taxi ride home if you work past midnight.  thank goodness, cause i had a shift that lasted till 4am this week...just after one of the worst blizzards in new york history.

it started snowing here the day after christmas and didn't stop for 24 straight hours.  it's been pretty intense considering we have to walk about a mile to the train every day.  but also, kinda fun.

here are two photos from the morning after the blizzard.

first, the view across the street from our house:

there were so many abandoned vehicles.  including cabs, police cars, ambulances and buses like this one:

I'm Down With You

an early christmas present from our friend Laz D.

we were introduced to Laz from our mutual friend Jacky G.
we spent some time with them a couple weeks ago while they were in town filming for a future short film.  Laz is kind, funny and incredibly driven.  This book is beautifully shot and inspiring.

so long, los angeles

los angeles is a special city and we've made memories here that will last us for-e-verrrr.
now, after more than 5 years, we've decided to switch it up.

so here we go... bye bye l.a. and hello new york.  brooklyn, to be more specific.  bed stuy, to be exact.
last week we traveled there for a mad apartment hunt.
after no sleep and an insane-but-soon-to-be-normal amount of walking we were feeling overwhelmed.
the weight began to lift when we found a beautiful renovated brownstone.

the goal is to go and live and build our life story...
not to stress over "making it" in the music world (whatever that even means anymore).
but don't get us wrong, we plan to write and play our little asses off like never before.

stay tuned...

so here's another idea

liska and i have been working on music ever since castledoor stopped playing shows.
we decided to give ourselves a name and post our works in progress.
we've got an albums worth of material, but we're short on time and also struggling with some of the technical aspects of recording.

download a couple songs now... before we decide we hate them and delete them forever.

doom & gloom - demos
